Tomáš Oral is a Czech chess Grandmaster who achieved his FIDE Grandmaster title in 1998. Born on March 29, 1972, he is well-known in the Czech chess community, especially due to his coaching roles. Oral was part of the national team at the European Team Chess Championships and performed well in a number of tournaments.
He also gained recognition as a coach. Notably, he coached Women's World Chess Champion Zhu Chen from China who reigned from 2001 until 2004, as well as the well-acclaimed Czech Grandmaster David Navara. Additionally, Oral was the trainer of the women's national team, leading them to the European Team Chess Championship.
Apart from the conventional form of chess, Oral has also been involved in Alternate Chess, a variant where each player can choose one of two pieces to move during their turn. He championed in the event held at the Mind Sports Olympiad in London in 1997.
