Nikola Temkov Padevsky is a Bulgarian chess player, notable for being an International Master and Grandmaster. He was born on June 29, 1933 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Padevski's chess career saw significant milestones including winning the Bulgarian Championship four times in 1955, 1958, 1962, and 1971. He also clinched second place seven times.
Padevsky's international success includes participation in ten Chess Olympiads from 1956 to 1980. Participating on behalf of Bulgaria, he won several medals including team bronze in 1960, 1962, 1972, and 1980, and team silver in 1966. He obtained an individual bronze medal in 1966. Padevsky also participated in the 1964 Amsterdam Interzonal tournament, tying for 7-13th place.
He earned accolades such as International Master in 1962 and Grandmaster in 1964. Padevsky also tried his hand at coaching, later becoming a trainer of the Bulgarian Women's Chess team. He was inducted into the Bulgarian Sports Hall of Fame in 2012 as a recognition of his substantial contribution to Bulgarian chess. Padevsky turned 80 in 2013.
