Aleksandr Rakhmanov is a Russian chess grandmaster who was born in 1989. His interest in chess began at the age of six and his considerable talent quickly became apparent, obtaining his International Master in 2005 and Grandmaster title in 2007.
Rakhmanov had a number of significant achievements in his early career, including winning the Under 12 section of the European Youth Chess Championship in Hungary in 2001 and the Under 14 Russian Chess Championship in Saint Petersburg in 2003.
He subsequently went on to achieve further success in several tournaments. He placed second in the Russian Junior Chess Championship in 2008, third in the Russian Chess Championship in 2011, and a year later, won the Russian Chess Federation's Higher League tournament, thereby qualifying for the Superfinal of the Russian Chess Championship. He won the Nakhchivan Open in 2013 and came fourth in the Aeroflot Open in 2014.
In 2015, he won the prestigious 67th Russian Chess Championship's Higher League, allowing him to compete in the finals of the Russian Chess Championship. That same year, he also participated in the Chess World Cup, although he was eliminated in the first round.
In team events, Rakhmanov has participated in the World Team Chess Championship, European Team Chess Championship, and Russian Team Chess Championship. He was a member of the Russian team ShSM-64 Moscow that came second in the European Chess Club Cup in 2014.
