Vitězslav Rašík is a Czech chess Grandmaster (GM), born 21st May 1973 in the city of Děčín, Czechoslovakia, now Czech Republic. Rašík began his professional chess career in 1997, becoming a FIDE Master (FM) and gaining the title of International Master (IM) in 1999.
He achieved the Grandmaster status in 2002, making him the 13th Czech player to earn the title. Over the years, Rašík won several public games, including the Czech Championship in 2006 and the Petr Izmailov Memorial Tournament in 2008 in Tomsk, Russia.
Throughout his career, Rašík has represented Czech Republic in many international team events, most notably the Chess Olympiads - a biennial chess tournament in which teams from all over the world compete. He played in the 36th Chess Olympiad in Calvià in 2004 and in Dresden's 38th Chess Olympiad in 2008.
In addition to his professional career, Rašík also took responsibility as a coordinator and leader for the Czech Olympic team, ensuring the proper preparation and strategy for the tournaments. Furthermore, he has acted as a chess trainer, nurturing talent and furthering the development of chess in his home country. Despite retiring from active play in 2015, Rašík continues to contribute to the chess community through these positions.
