Ray Robson (born October 25, 1994) is an American chess Grandmaster known for his abilities in blitz chess. He was born in Guam but currently resides in Florida. Robson became the youngest Grandmaster in the history of the U.S. and the fifth youngest in history at the time, after earning the title at age 14 in 2009.
Prior to earning his Grandmaster title, Robson won a number of significant youth championships. He earned the World Chess Federation's highest title for players below the age of 20, International Master, at age 13 in 2007. He also won the U.S. Junior Championship in 2009 and 2010.
Robson has represented the U.S. in multiple international competitions, participating in the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 Chess Olympiads. His 2016 performance helped the U.S. team win the first-place trophy for the first time since 1976. In 2009, he was part of the World team that won the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad, where he also won an individual gold medal.
