Eduardas Rozentalis (born 1963) is a Lithuanian chess Grandmaster (GM) and a well-known player on the international circuit. He has twice won the Lithuanian Chess Championship, once by himself and once jointly. In addition, he finished first in multiple international tournaments, establishing a reputation for himself early on. He has notable victories against many influential players, like Alexei Shirov and World Champion Anatoly Karpov. Besides being a player, Rozentalis is also a successful chess author.
Rozentalis excelled at the Chess Olympiads, representing his country 13 times and clinching two individual silver medals. He earned his International Master (IM) title in 1985 and the Grandmaster title eight years later, in 1993. He was the Lithuanian Champion in his own right in 1981 and shared the title in 1986. In 1990, while still an IM, Rozentalis gained shared first place in the prestigious Gausdal Classics Tournament.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Rozentalis spent some time in Israel for familial reasons, during which he represented the country from 1999 to 2003. After his return to Lithuania, he resumed representing his nation, contributing to their fourth place finish in the European Team Chess Championship in 2005.
As a successful chess author, Rozentalis has co-authored books as well as published materials in leading chess publications globally. His work mainly focuses on game analysis, opening preparation, and discussing the psychological aspects of the game.
