Róbert Ruck is a Hungarian chess Grandmaster. He was born on 13 April 1977 in Budapest, Hungary. Ruck earned the title of International Master in 1993, and became a Grandmaster in 1998. He is also a FIDE Trainer, a title awarded to professional chess coaches and trainers by FIDE, the International Chess Federation.
While primarily known as a player, Ruck has also made contributions to chess literature. In the 2000s, he co-authored a book on the main line of the Caro-Kann Defence, a popular chess opening, with International Master Gabor Kallai.
In addition to his individual successes, Ruck has made a significant impact in team competitions. He won team gold and individual silver medals at the 1999 European Team Chess Championship in Batumi. He has also competed in the Hungarian Team Chess Championship, where he played for teams like Dunaharaszti Munkás Testedző Kör, Csuti Antal SK Zalaegerszeg, and Aquaprofit NTSK. His team won the championship several times during his tenure.
