Konstantin Yuryevich Sakaev is a Russian chess player who was granted the esteemed title of Grandmaster (GM) by FIDE (International Chess Federation) in 1992. He was born on April 13, 1974, in Leningrad, now known as Saint Petersburg.
Sakaev has had an impressive career in chess from a very early age. At 14, he became World Under-16 Champion and won the European Under-20 Championship when he was 18. In 1999, he led the Russian team to win the World Team Championship.
Sakaev has written several chess books, including various volumes on chess endgames. His works are highly regarded as they focus on the important strategies, tactics, and decision-making skills required in competitive chess.
Sakaev served as the coach of the Russian women's national team at the Chess Olympiads in 2010, 2012, and 2014, helping the team to secure two gold medals.
