Savchenko’s accomplishments include winning the Russian Junior Chess Championship in 2004, earning the title of International Master in 2005, and Grandmaster in 2007. His most notable achievement was winning the Chigorin Memorial in 2008 where he surpassed some elite players, finishing ahead of over 50 grandmasters. Savchenko also won the Aeroflot Open Group B in 2007, the powerful Krasnodar Open in 2009, and the Vladimir Dvorkovich Memorial in 2014.
He has represented Russia in the 2009 European Team Chess Championship and the 2015 World Team Chess Championship. He also competed in the Chess World Cup in 2011 and 2013.
