Lars Schandorff is a Danish chess grandmaster. He was born on 25 September 1965 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He achieved the title of International Master in 1987 and became a grandmaster in 1990.
Throughout his career, Schandorff participated in several major chess tournaments. He represented Denmark eight times in Chess Olympiads between 1986 and 2008, and also competed in five Team Chess Championships in Europe from 1989 to 2005. His best performance in individual tournaments was at the Politiken Cup in 1987, where he shared 1st-2nd place. He was also the Danish Chess Champion of 1987 and 1993.
Schandorff is not only known as a chess player, but also as a writer. He has written four books about chess, among them "Playing 1.d4: The Queen's Gambit" and "Playing 1.d4: The Indian Defences", both published by Quality Chess.
In addition to his activity as a player, Schandorff has also served as the trainer of the Danish national junior chess team. He shares his extensive knowledge and experience by teaching young chess players. He has been appreciated for his contributions to Danish chess both as a player and a trainer.
