Andrei Shchekachev is a Russian chess Grandmaster and esteemed international competitor. He's also served in the capacity of a coach on several occasions. Born on 11th December 1968 in Shakhty, Russia; Shchekachev relocated to France in 1997 where he earned both the International Master (1997) and Grandmaster (2000) titles.
During his illustrious career, Shchekachev has triumphed in various nationwide and international tournaments. He won the 1995 Russian Cup and the 1997 Russian Championships. He also achieved victories in the following French tournaments: Vandoeuvre (2001), Nimes Open (2005), Montpellier (2005) and Lyon (2007).
Internationally, Shchekachev found success in Germany, Spain, Greece and other countries worldwide. Some of his noted wins include Idar-Oberstein Open and Wiesbaden (Germany, 2003), Marbella (Spain, 2006), and Peristeri (Greece, 2006).
Shchekachev has dedicated his expertise to coaching as well. He has provided coaching to the French Women's Team and the Karpov Chess School within the period from 1998 to 2002.
