Sergio Ernesto Slipak is an Argentine chess Grandmaster. He was born on October 20, 1968, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He demonstrated his talent for chess early in his career by winning the Argentine Chess Championship at the age of 17 in 1986. Slipak again won the championship in 1994, and placed second in 1992.
In 1997, the International Chess Federation awarded him the title of Grandmaster.
As an active player, he has competed in many international tournaments, including the Chess Olympiad and the Pan American Team Chess Championship. He played for the Argentina team in the Chess Olympiad four times (1994, 1996, 1998, and 2000) and in the Pan American Team Chess Championship three times (1991, 1993, and 1995).
He also was a member of the team from the Buenos Aires chess club which finished third in the 1998 Pan American Club Championship.
Sergio Slipak currently devotes his time to training future generations of chess players and is a chess coach for several institutions.
