Krisztián Szabó is a Hungarian chess player, primarily known for his achievements as a Grandmaster. Born on 29 October 1979, Szabó earned his International Master title in 1999 and Grandmaster title in 2007.
From 1992 to 2000, Szabó competed in the European U18 and U20 Championships, and the World U18 and U20 Championships. He experienced relatively moderate success in these early years, but his performances were strong enough to establish his reputation in the chess world.
His progress continued, winning the Hungarian Chess Championship in 2006. His achievement in this major competition jump-started his career and saw him gain national recognition as a prominent chess player in Hungary.
In 2007, Szabó secured the Grandmaster title after his overall performance at the First Saturday GM Tournament in Budapest.
Szabó's continuously demonstrated profound chess talent, namely in the 38th Chess Olympiad where he performed with a winning percentage of over 70%. Additionally, he won the FSIMA February 2008 chess tournament. His career is marked by other numerous podium finishes, showcasing his expertise and talent in the world of chess.
