Artyom Timofeev is a world-known Russian chess player who holds the title of Grandmaster, an honor he achieved in 2000. He was born in Kazan, Russia on January 6, 1985. Starting his chess career early, Timofeev leveled-up in the ranks by winning multiple championships within a few years. In 1999, he won the Under 14 section of the World Youth Chess Championship and then bagged the Under 18 Championship in 2002.
His journey continued with notable success at the Russian Chess Championship in 2005, where he secured second place after a two-round playoff with Sergei Rublevsky. In 2006, he participated in the 2006 Chess Olympiad, representing Russia along with his team. Further, he became the outright champion of the 10th European Individual Chess Championship in 2009.
Timofeev also enjoyed success at the World Junior Chess Championship, achieving second place in 2004. In 2010, he won the prestigious Moscow Open event.
