Ye Rongguang (born September 22, 1963) is a Chinese chess Grandmaster. He was the first Chinese chess player to achieve the title of Grandmaster in 1990 through the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

Born in Ningbo, Zhejiang, Ye studied chess while at a school in Shanghai which also produced other distinguished chess players. He first gained international attention when he won the under-16 division of the World Youth Chess Championships in 1982. He then went on to place second at the Championship proper.

He has won several national championships, making him one of the most successful chess players in China's history. He also led the Chinese team in the 1990 Chess Olympiad to an eighth place out of 108 participating nations. Throughout his career, he has bested several prominent chess Grandmasters.

After retiring from professional chess in the late 1990s, Ye turned to teaching. He now coaches the national women's team and occasionally commentates on chess tournaments for Chinese television. He served as the head coach of the Chinese women's team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Chess Olympiad.

Despite significant achievements in the chess world, Ye maintains a low profile lifestyle. Ye is married and has one daughter, who is also a chess player.
