Yevseev has an impressive chess record that includes tournaments and championships. He won the Leningrad Championships in 1990 and 1991. He was the joint winner, along with Alexei Lugovoi and Ilya Smirin, at the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica-Zdrój in 2001. He also tied for the 6–7th places with Luke McShane in World Junior Chess Championship in 1991. More recently, he finished third in the 2010 Russian Chess Championship. Furthermore, he played on the bronze-winning Russian team in the 1994 Chess Olympiad in Moscow.
