The bishop on g5 can be awkward for Black to deal with, as ...h6 weakens the kingside further and ...Nf6 allows a pin. Black can respond with ...g6 (accepting the bishop's presence), ...d5, or the sharp ...h6 challenging the bishop immediately. The variation is uncommon but has some sting.
