I'm an engineer and have been playing chess competitively in interclub matches and individual tournaments in Belgium since the age of 18, with an occasional break of a few years. A friend of mine advised me RedHotPawn for correspondence chess. By playing CC I force myself to study openings more regularly and hopefully it sharpens my decision making process too.
