Chess Terms : Double Fianchetto Explained
A Double Fianchetto is a chess term that refers to a specific board setup where a player has moved their bishops to the long diagonals (b2 and g2 for white; b7 and g7 for black). This setup is performed from each player's first rank, with the bishops ultimately standing on squares on the second rank for white or the seventh rank for black. The term fianchetto comes from an Italian word meaning little flank. Therefore, a double fianchetto involves performing this maneuver on both flanks.
