Outpost

An outpost in chess is a square on the chessboard where a player's piece can be placed, often a knight, to exert influence over the game. This square is usually protected by a pawn and is beyond the attacking potential of the opponent's pawns. Once a piece is on this square, it is difficult to be dislodged by the opponent's pieces. The outpost is often located in the opponent's side of the board, providing a strategic advantage in attacking the opponent's position.
