    Perhaps. Or maybe one can look at the games of Bob "N-QR3" Dunkin, a man whose rating peaked at the master level and was well known for starting his games as white with 1.Na3, and conclude that book openings aren't as important as some would make them out to be.

    You can also conclude that is the reason he peaked at the master level instead of peaking at a higher level.
