In which world is 50.000 a year just to study normal? And so students are forced to take on loans with absurd interest rates. That’s fukked up too.

When I started at Purdue (public; in-state rates) in 1981, the cost was ~$3000/year all in. That's about $10,600 adjusted to today. But Purdue in 2023-24 costs $20,022 per year all-in. (I think I paid ~$15k/yr for my kids where they went.)
So that's roughly double what it should be. The difference is due to demand - both within the US and worldwide. Everybody wants to go to US colleges. And why not? They are delightful.
But government increased demand by offering loans. And now bailing out students will further increase demand because it takes away risk.
This will drive further inflation. Can't use gasoline to put out fires.
I went to graduate school for essentially nothing because I worked in the medical school and the stipend offset my remitted tuition and housing. That also seems normal because it's what happened to me.
