This game begins with White adopting an opening setup that doesn't challenge Black's gaining space, which seems to allow black an edge without much trouble.

  • 1. d4 Ng8f6 2. f3
?! This could technically transpose into a Saemisch KID if white were to continue with e4 and c4.
    • 2... g6 3. h4
?! Already attacking! With no developed pieces! It is here that Black would be advised not to attempt any premature action, but, rather, should calmly develop all his pieces and grab some central squares! This is because although White's attack is premature, Black is not really developed either! White's attack is doomed to fail if Black plays it smart.
      • 3... Bf8g7 4. c3
        More pawn moves.
        • 4... d5 5. g4
?! Still pressing for the Kingside attack. Now White's King is loose.
          • 5... Nb8c6
White has no real threats so Black simply develops.
            • 6. b4
?! Still no development and no it is unadvisable for White to castle on either side!
              • 6... e5
Perhaps this could have waited until I castle, but at this point I wanted to keep which side I would castle on a secret.
                • 7. e3 e4 8. Bf1e2 Nf6d7
?! Planning my own pawn advance, but I am not sure this is the best Idea yet since I could have found some constructive things to do. This is a good point of where I should have taken the time to plan out my attack much more fully.
                  • 9. h5 f5 10. hxg6 hxg6 11. Rh1xh8 Bg7xh8
If Black had castled Kingside the opening of the h-file could have been very good for White!
                    • 12. gxf5 Qd8h4 13. Ke1d2 gxf5 14. f4
It is here that I realized that my knights could be the key to winning this game. I could put them into some of the great holes in White's camp and eventually trade them off for other advantages.
