Weak squares and attacking down the opened F-File.
1. e4 c5 2. Nb1c3 Nb8c6 3. g3 e5
?! I haven't seen this before. Sort of a reversed Maroczy? Normal is: 3...g6. It seems as if the only real problem is that it creates a hole on d5 (and d6)! Which White uses to great effect in this game. However, on the flip side, Black has firm control on the d4 square!
4. Bf1g2 Ng8f6 5. d3
Protecting the pawn and planning to control the d5 square via Bg5. Also planning an f4 break later.
5... d6
Blocking in the Dark-squared Bishop.
6. Bc1g5
Committal. I could have played f4 first, but I thought the control of the d5 square was more important.
6... Bf8e7 7. Ng1e2
Now if Black exchanges on d5, then the knight can hop to either f4 or c3 and attack the square again!
7... Bc8e6 8. O-O Ra8b8 9. f4
!? Undermining Black's center. Opening the f-file for the rook and if Black doesn't take on f4, then f5 looks very strong!
9... Nf6g4
I didn't see this move. Fortunately, it works out okay.
10. Bg5xe7 Qd8xe7 11. f5
Gaining some nice Kingside real estate and Indirectly controlling the d5 square!
11... Be6d7 12. Nc3d5
No we can see that the d5 square is weak and we begin to notice that Black's king is still in the center!
