Okay this is not a great game but I still think that there is something to learn from this. After the game my opponent himself admitted that he was rusty and hence he could not put up a good fight. I thought I played some good moves but when analyzing the computer made better suggestions. So it seems that I am not very good at spotting tactics!! I played the human way safe and sound.
1. e4 e5 2. Ng1f3
I was ready for the Ruy Lopez but...
2... d6
He goes for the Philidor Defense which is passive but nevertheless a solid opening. But I think white can keep some advantage as long as he plays actively.
3. d4
White must open the centre
3... Bc8g4
?! This is a dubious move and I guess most of the people who play this opening must be knowing the famous Morphy Consultation game
4. dxe5
! Now black cant take 4.. de5 because of 6 Qd8 Kd8 and 7 Ne5 winning a pawn and attacking the bishop on g4 and the pawn on f7.
4... Bg4xf3
Forced because of the variation mentioned in the last note. There is no gambit variation here.
5. Qd1xf3
Now white has a developed queen whereas black has no piece developed. Moreover blacks next move is forced which means he cant put his next move to good use.
5... dxe5 6. Bf1c4
All played in the famous Morphy Game.So all credit goes to Morphy.
6... Qd8f6
The morphy game went 6.. Nf6? which was a bad move and after 7. Qb3! white has a very good position. But I think Qd7 is a good move here. The Queen on f6 is blocking the natural square for the knight on g8
7. Qf3b3
I am not interested in exchanging queens as I am ahead in development. Now white should win a pawn by force
