I have started to blunder in correspondence chess of late and the reasons seem to be the following: 1) Playing too many games 2) Playing too many moves in a game in a single day. Anyway I won this game quite quickly however I didnt think too long on many moves which explains the lousy quality of the game. The game was won because my opponent made more mistakes then me
1. e4 e5 2. Ng1f3 Nb8c6 3. Bf1b5 f5
I have never played this opening before. So it was a mild shock for me. Recently I have stopped consulting openings book and databases for my games, I used to use it in my initial games and here I was on my own
4. Nb1c3
I didnt like taking on f5 immediately because of e4
4... Ng8f6
de4 Ne4 and d5 looks good for black
5. exf5
I decided to take the pawn here as e4 can be met by Nh4!?
5... b6
? Looks like a mistake
6. O-O Bc8b7 7. Rf1e1
! Now the Black king is in the firing line
7... Qd8e7
?? This loses the queen
8. d4
?! I should have played Bc6 and then Re5 winning the queen. This move isnt that bad either but it prolongs the game
