A pretty unfriendly workaround is to write your notes, then make an illegal move, which will then save the notes. You can then make your legal move to continue.
A fix is forthcoming...just patching this whilst retaining backward compatibility with existing app is causing a bit of a headache.
Not a known issue, but it does appear to be a problem. It also illustrates how few people use notes on mobile too - because this appears to have been an issue since the last site update. A fix will be coming soon, no app update required. (It is fixable server side)
When this hits RHP it will not be rated initially, but I will record all games, so I can retrospectively apply a starting rating when ratings are introduced.
It will take a couple of weeks to filter through to production. A few other updates need to be merged in before release too.
The bug was actually introduced when setting sensible defaults for people upgrading from older versions of the app in 2018! This was erroneously triggering on a cold app launch, resetting preferences, as you discovered.
@Trev33 I believe the limitation was that when a web page redirects to another, the browser will not play a sound until there has been a user interaction with that page. (To stop spammy sites abusing it).
I'm sure I can find a workaround, but that is the case now anyway.
This will be arriving on your phone in the next 24 hours.
This is just a maintenance release, but does feature a new way to review the app without leaving the app itself. If you enjoy the app, please leave a review, it REALLY helps increase exposure. (If you hate it, please just send feedback 😉 )Thanks!
