    @mchill

    Congratulations and good luck.

If you are 1600 your openings are fine. The key to the next tactical training is bishops and knights in the middle game. The leap from 1600 to 1800 is based on strong pawn play (pawn structure) and being better than your opponent with the bishops and knights in the middle game.

It looks like there are 8 clan leagues. Maybe a simplification is part of the answer.

1 table. 5 players per side. 5 sides per division. 4 matches. 3/7

    That's it. Start there.

Maybe a side with 5 players over 1700 wins. So be it. Everyone else gets 8 good games against players who want to play. Not everyone is Liverpool or City, but the players at Newcastle are still having a good time (well maybe not today).

Thank you to all the clan leaders who have welcomed Queens & Pawns. Happy Christmas and best of luck in 2020 - maybe a new upstart clan can somehow find their way to Page 1 ...

Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
    By now you should've somehow
    Realized what you gotta do
    I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do, about you now

I too would like to wish everyone all the best Christmas holidays. I like saying it the old fashion way even if it may not include everyone, I include everyone in my wishes.

All the best to you all in 2020, may you have good Health, a roof over your head and enough to eat. We are more fortunate than many in the world and I believe we sometimes take it for granted.

Spot on - a roof over your head and enough to eat. May 2020 bless those who could really stand with some more good fortune in their lives.

To answer my own question I would buy @coquette a new wireless mouse as she will need one after making a million moves.

    Happy Christmas to all.

Christmas is not simply the celebration of the birth of the savior Jesus Christ, and all that that entails. It is much different for many of us. For some it is sharply focused on family and friends and our lives today.

At our house we make our once-a-year visit to the local Lutheran church on Christmas Eve. At the end of the service everyone stands in a wide circle around the sanctuary and holds a candle. We dim the lights and sing Silent Night.

It is moving, spiritually affecting. There is no other feeling in the world quite like it.

Reading some of the posts in this forum, that once-a-year feeling is something others are able to feel every week, maybe every day. That is wonderful – they are very lucky.

Merry Christmas to everyone for whom this season fills the heart and soul.

And Merry Christmas to the rest of us too 🙂
