    @Very-Rusty

    Were you able to observe the game?

    I remember in earlier times there would often be several players on the blitz site with a few games always in progress, and you could go in and watch them if you wanted. I think there was even a window that would show who was watching any particular game.

    I sometimes wonder if the blitz site would be more popular if there was a rating system maintained, but kept seperate from the main RHP rating system.

    VR and I managed to play a game just now and the blitz site does seem to work fine for now. The 'exit' box at the top right corner of the page wouldn't work for me on my laptop, but that's a minor thing.

    If anyone has problems trying to figure out time zones, your browser probably has an add-on that allows you to list various places and shows their current local time. I use firefox and added 'fox clocks' which works fine on my computer. I have included GMT on my clock list so that works nicely for this idea.

    In other words, I'm there right now and will be gone in about 20 minutes if nothing happens.

    Just curious. Do blitz games show up in your games archive?
    No. They are unrated and their outcome has no impact on any members statistics.

    I keep going in and checking to see if anyone is there and it is alwasy like a ghost town. Totally vacant except for me. 🙁

    Maybe if anyone is interested in playing some blitz, they should start a post in one of the forums and indicate what time they will be at the site waiting for a game. If they feel like sitting there for half an hour or whatever, they could post the times in GMT format in the general or chess only forum, then go there and set up a game and wait.

    In that way, anyone who is interested in a quick game would know when to head over and maybe find someone there to play. It's not that difficult to click the link and see if anyone is there, but posting times might be helpful.

    Anyway, just a thought....

    Maybe I'll try it now and see what happens, if anything. I'll post it here.

    I will be there from GMT 1900 to 1930. 🙂

    EDIT:
    Let me try this again. I did not do a good job of proof-reading my previous post.

    The only restriction on the rook that is castling is that it cannot have already been moved.

    The king cannot have already moved, and he also cannot castle while in check and he cannot move across or end up on a square that is under attack by the opponent.

    And lastly, all squares between the king and the rook that is involved in castling must be empty.

    I believe those are all of the rules for castling.

    Not a bad movie, but Eastwood shouldn't try to sing.
    🙂 Lee Marvin probably shouldn't either, but then that's part of what made it stand out for me. Two guys who have absolutely no business trying to sing, yet there they are, in a musical, singing.

    @Great-Big-Stees

    One way to do it is to send them to any individual who wants to see them by using email. They could just contact you by sending a private message, furnish the email address to send them to, and then you could just send them in that way. Would that work. You would just have to give your word that you're not going to sell their email address to porn sites, or something. ( 🙂 )

    @divegeester

    I did some digging. The person who put together the "RHP Faces" project was a member named "gatecrasher", from South Africa. He hasn't moved for over 3000 days.

    @Great-Big-Stees

    I don't want to hijack this thread, but you mentioned a Rhode Island 'meet-up'.

    As I recall, there were a couple of those, and there were pictures available of the various events and people who attended. The pictures of the RI events were not published on RHP, but a link was provided. I remember that it looked like everyone had a great time.

    There have also been several 'meet-ups' in England and in Ireland, and at one time there were many pictures from those events that were published on this site. The meet-up page with all those pictures has gone away, or at least I can no longer find it.

    I just wanted to mention this, as "Nordlys" was in some of the pictures of at least one of the meet-ups in England, plus a good many other 'old-timers' from yesteryear who are no longer around, plus some that are.

    And finally, there was a 'RHP FACES' link floating around, and that was a collection of pictures of various RHP members who were active here at the time. That particular project was not published on the RHP site, but I think one of the members was putting that together as a project and these 'faces' were posted on a seperate site.

    @Russ

    I reset 'zoom' and that took care of it.

    However, I now found one minor thing. On the blitz page there is a red box in the upper right corner that does not do anything. I suspect it is supposed to close the window and bring you back to RHP? I can still exit by clicking the browser tab.

    And finally, is blitz and option with a smartphone? Some of my local friends are on phones but I suspect they are not getting all of the options available on a pc. Is that correct?

    Thanks!

    @shamshoun

    Blitz is now available again.
    Hey Russ, what happened to the link that was on the upper right of the page. I see that it is gone, along with a few other links that used to be up there in that top row of links.

    I do see one (BlitzChess.net) on the site map, but when I click that my browser gets all paranoid with warnings (firefox) and says it might be a security risk.

    I'm on an hp laptop.
