Blind Swine Mate involves two rooks (often referred to as swine) and the opponent's king.

The pattern usualy develops as follows :

  • One of the rooks checks the opponent's king. This forces the opponent's king towards the back-rank (the last row).

  • The other rook comes to join the first, trapping the king on the back-rank.


    The term Blind Swine Mate refers to the idea that the mated king is the blind swine, trapped and unable to see a way out.
