A queen and rook form a rectangular "kill box" around the king, delivering checkmate.
The Kill Box Mate is a checkmate pattern in which a queen and rook create a rectangular zone—a "kill box"—from which the enemy king cannot escape. The queen controls surrounding squares while the rook delivers the final check.
