There is a Graffiti Wall in Edinburgh and somebody has spelt cheese wrong.

I decided to get in the picture before it got corrected or the vandals attacked it.
When I heard they had one of Ozzy Osbourne...

I thought it might be of him eating a bat.

We start with a relatively easy one I saw on facebook
White to play and win
.
Solution one
Solution two
We saw the winning method on the second solution in reve - roland elliott RH P 2017
Another one I saw on facebook. White to play and mate in two moves.
1.Qxh3 works except that is stalemate. They had no solution these puzzles.
I wonder how many face-bookers took on h3 thinking they had solved it.
Finally one I saw from an idea in CHESS September 2025 (White to play and win)

Do these puzzles help. Yes and they won't be doing any harm and occasionally when
you play a trap or combination you can recall where you got the idea or the pattern from.
Most times you cannot remember where you saw it first but without seeing the pattern
or idea first the chances are you would have missed playing the combination altogether,
John Nunn in New in Chess; once related how he pulled off a combination he remembered first
seeing in Reinfeld s 1001 Checkmates. and his shocked opponent, Lajos Portisch, admitted he
had never seen the idea before. It sounds like Hungary does not have any Fred Reinfeld books.
Remember that If you a have a favourite Reinfeld opening trap and your opponent is Hungarian.
(actually the book is called; '1001 Brilliant Ways to Checkmate' but let us not quibble.)

The two position, one from the Reinfeld Book, the other from the Nunn-Portisch game.

The solution is the same. 1.Qxh7+ Kxh7 2.Rh+ Kg7 3.Bh6+ Kh7 4.Bf8 mate.
If the combination is as startling and pleasing at that one then perhaps you
may well recall where you first saw it. I bet Lagos Portisch never forgot it.
I never forgot it and recalled using an RHP game with the exact same idea.
keithn - David Burris RHP 2023
(from a previous puzzle. This time I ll note up the whole game)
