Zorro reaches 2,500,000 chess moves

door

In years to come when all the world’s chess historians meet up at the
Royal and Ancient Chess Historians Club on The Strand in London they
will agree that the most important date in chess history is the 1st September.

It was on the 1st of September 1972 that Boris Spassky resigned, by phone, game
21 of the World Championship match and Bobby Fischer became World Champion.

Bobby

It was on the 1st of September 2022 that @ZorroTheFox made his
two millionth, five hundred thousandth move on Red Hot Pawn.

Zorro

no title

If you make, non stop, one move every 5 seconds it is roughly 145 days.
Zorro is has 904 games in progress and is chasing 3 million moves on RHP.
It is quite an achievement. I think I’ll contact the Guiness book of records.

Well I woke up this morning...that reminds me of song....and I thought;

‘I wonder how many Red Hot Players have lost their undefended
Queens to a discovered Bishop check and Queen takes Queen,’

So I retrieved my computer from the hock shop, fired up my ChessBase
to go though the over 5 million RHP games I have and see what’s what.

how it is done

Look for any Bishop (either colour) giving a check followed by Queen takes
Queen. Set the moves to 3 so it catches the two move traps and then let it run.

32571

32,571 Too many so I restricted the search to games played in 2022.

867

Incredible how close the White and Black wins are.

Not too bad, 867 games I can skip through that lot quite easily as it actually only
takes a few seconds to find what I’m looking for as most will be Queen swaps.
For instance here is one not winning a Queen but swapping Queens to win a pawn.

loyram21 - mbrowne760 RHP 2022 (Black to play)

21...Bxh2+ 22. Qxh2 Qxh2+ 23. Kxh2 Ng4+ winning back the piece (24...Nxe3)

I found plenty of Queen winning tricks or to be more precise, Queen losing Blunders.
Here are four, two with each colour. Always look out for these if undefended Queens
are lined up on the files or diagonals especially if there are any checks in the position.
It could be any piece or pawn moving to give the check I have just used the Bishops.

kirbythecat - aidypoos RHP 2022

Black played 7...Nxd4 8.Nxd4 Qxd4 9. Bxb5+ winning the Black Queen.

jb70 - achilles9533 RHP 2022

Black played 18...Nc7 19.Bxf7+ winning the Black Queen.

Hazy Daze - Teinosuke RHP 2022

White played 23.Qd3 Bxf2+ winning the White Queen.

D4V - flaminggrate RHP 2022

White played 24.Nxd5 Nxd5 25.Qxd5 Bh2+ winning the White Queen.

This next one is good. White thinks they have set a trap but the trap was set by Black.

Arhipov14 - Hitra07 RHP 2022

Sometimes the main idea takes over and you miss an even better move.
Zlatko Marko - Mr Groove RHP .2022
