I recall the teenage years evenings I spent playing chess with my late good friend José Cruz, 'Ti-Zé' as everybody called him. It was in this fashion, spending most of a week's evenings sitting in front of a wooden chessboard with my back to the TV and my mind lost in the battles, that a man in his sixties taught an impatient kid how to get going in chess. And so to honor him and all that he has taught me, I strive to never give up the pleasure of a good chess game. So 'Ti-Zé'... Thank you!
