ianp became a GrandMaster at the age of 3. However after a shock loss to Petrosian during a simultaneous blindfold exhibition against 50 other GrandMasters (he won the other 49 games) he moved into a mountain cave in Tibet where he lived for over 50 years on a diet of rainwater and fig leaves pondering opening theory. He has recently returned to civilisation to resume his chess career.

He now wishes he had spent at least a decade of that time studying end games.
