I am studying a PhD in Australian Publishing in Perth, Australia and use chess as a way to turn my mind away from the stresses of higher-degree research. I am entering my third year. I have played chess for two decades though I would class myself as an average player. My favourite versions have been cross chess and one real-world game were we lined up 3 boards and had 3 armies each -- that was a real mind warp to work out all the possibilities on the board!
