Chess Terms : Adjust Explained

Adjust

Adjust in chess refers to the action of a player intentionally touching a piece with the intention of repositioning it on its square without intending to move it. According to standard chess rules, a player should say adjust or j'adoube (the French term) before touching the piece to clearly indicate the intention of adjustment to avoid any misunderstanding during the gameplay. It's typically done with the intention of correcting misplaced pieces or tidying up the chessboard.
