Chess Terms : Antipositional Explained
Antipositional describes a move or plan that contradicts established principles of positional play. Examples include unnecessary pawn advances that create weaknesses, neglecting development, abandoning control of the centre, or placing pieces on passive squares. An antipositional move may serve a short-term tactical purpose but typically leads to long-term strategic disadvantage. The concept was systematised by Aron Nimzowitsch and other theoreticians of positional chess.
