Chess Terms : Arabian Mate Explained
The Arabian mate is a checkmate pattern in which a knight and a rook work together to trap the opposing king in a corner of the board. The rook delivers the check along the edge rank or file, while the knight covers the king's escape squares. The pattern takes its name from its occurrence in medieval Arabic chess manuscripts (shatranj). It is one of the fundamental checkmate patterns that every player should recognise.
