Chess Terms : Centipawn Explained

Centipawn

Centipawn is a unit of measure used in chess to quantify the advantage or disadvantage of a particular move or position. It is equivalent to one hundredth of the value of a pawn, and allows for a more precise calculation of the material balance on the board, taking into consideration factors like board position, piece mobility, king safety, pawn structure, and control of the center. The term is primarily used in the analysis of chess games, particularly by computer chess engines.
