Chess Terms : En Passant Explained
En Passant is a chess move in which a pawn that is moved two squares forward from its starting position can be captured by an enemy pawn as if it had moved only one square forward. This capturing move must be done on the very next turn, or the right to do so is lost. En Passant can only occur when a player moves a pawn two squares forward from its starting position, and an opponent's pawn could have captured it if it had only moved one square forward. The name En Passant is a French term translating to in passing.
