Chess Terms : Endgame Explained

Endgame

Endgame refers to the final phase of a chess game, after the middlegame, and typically characterized by the removal of queens from the board. The endgame tends to occur when there are only a few pieces left. The king, which must be carefully guarded in the early and middle game stages, becomes a strong piece in the endgame. It can be brought to the center of the board where it can actively participate in the battle. The endgame phase also involves strategic objectives such as pawn promotion and the maneuvering of the king to support this strategy.
