Fool's Mate is the shortest possible checkmate in chess, occurring in just two moves: 1.f3 (or 1.f4) e5 2.g4 Qh4#. White weakens the e1–h4 diagonal by advancing the f- and g-pawns, allowing Black's queen to deliver checkmate. It is the only checkmate possible in two moves.
