Greek Gift Sacrifice

The Greek Gift sacrifice (also known as the classical bishop sacrifice) is one of the most famous tactical patterns in chess. A bishop is sacrificed on h7 (Bxh7+, or ...Bxh2+ for Black), destroying the castled king's pawn shield and exposing it to a devastating attack, typically involving Ng5+ and Qh5 (or ...Ng4+ and ...Qh4). The term "Greek Gift" alludes to the Trojan Horse—an apparent gift that conceals danger.
