Chess Terms : Illegal Position Explained
An Illegal Position in chess refers to a situation that can't arise during any series of legal moves. This may include cases where a king is in check and it's still the opponent's turn, or instances where both kings are in check, or one player has too many pieces of a certain type (for example, two white dark-squared bishops).
