In Check

In Check is a term in chess used when a player's king is under immediate threat of capture on the opponent's next move. The player must remove the threat immediately in their next move by either moving the king to a safe square, capturing the threatening piece, or placing a piece between the king and the opponent's threatening piece. If the player cannot do any of these, the situation is termed as checkmate, signaling the end of the game.
