Insufficient Material

Insufficient material is a condition in which neither player possesses enough pieces to deliver checkmate. Under the Laws of Chess, the game is drawn when a position arises in which checkmate is impossible. Examples include king vs. king, king and bishop vs. king, and king and knight vs. king.
