Kotov Syndrome

Kotov syndrome is a thinking error described by GM Alexander Kotov in Think Like a Grandmaster: a player spends a long time analysing candidate moves without reaching a decision, then impulsively plays an entirely different move—one that was not analysed at all—often with disastrous results.
