Chess Terms : Passive Sacrifice Explained

Passive Sacrifice

A passive sacrifice in chess is a type of sacrifice where a player deliberately gives up a piece with the objective of gaining a positional advantage or other strategic benefits. This is different from typical sacrifices, where the aim is primarily to gain immediate tactical advantages. The benefits of a passive sacrifice may not be immediately obvious and may require several moves to become evident. A passive sacrifice can allow a player to control certain squares, improve the placement of their pieces, open up lines of attack, or create weaknesses in their opponent's position.
