What is Performance Rating?

Performance Rating is a calculation, generally using the Elo system, that evaluates a player's performance in a series of games. This rating is used to estimate the player's actual skill level, and can change with each game played. It is based on the ratings of the opponents and the results against them. An outstanding performance rating suggests the player's potential to achieve a higher personal rating. It is widely used in chess tournaments to measure how well a player has performed.
